Generate Background project

genbg, Generate Background is a random wallpaper selector that chooses wallpapers from a directory. It is useful for changing wallpapers automatically each time X is restarted.

The current release is the Version 1.0.3 and has some bug fixes of the directory deep search.

You need at least one defaul directory where genbg can find pictures. genbg read the directory and filters the pictures types you've configured before and select one picture randomly. genbg sets the pictures on the root window not by itself but let another tool (like wmsetbg or fbsetbg) make the work. So you can choose the tool and the options you want.

There is an configuration file ~/.genbgrc where you configure the programm.

Interesting things

I was very surprised when I got an email from the Linux Magazine Team and told me they've posted an article covering genbg in their Online Archive.
